Your role and impact:

As our Commercial Manager (Chemicals/Gas), you will be responsible for functioning as manager of the Sales Department, optimizing revenue and profitability by selling the company's services to current and potential customers, gathering market intelligence, setting and executing the commercial strategy, managing customer accounts and market sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads, manages and oversees all revenues and sales generation, commercial opportunity and marketing activities of the Operating Company ('lead-to-contract')

  • Responsible for maximizing revenue and profit generation for the Operating Company

  • Identifies growth/ improvement opportunities with existing and new customers/ markets ensuring that the market share and revenues/ profit objectives are realized

  • Develops, communicates and implements commercial strategies of the Operating Company

  • Contributes to the strategic direction and day-to-day business in the region

  • Oversees and gives direction to the commercial and business opportunities and related capital investment projects

  • Identifies and targets new markets and customers aiming to grow market share; identifies and plans for mitigation of commercial and business risks

  • Leads and manages internal approval processes and procedures for commercially driven capital investment projects in accordance with Vopak Project Management framework

  • Manages, builds and develops meaningful relationships with customers and internal/ external stakeholders; represents the assigned location within regional commercial group and contributes to the regional business objectives

  • Oversees customer credit management and Accounts Receivable positions

  • Oversees and drives all commercial contract negotiations

  • Responsible for customer relationships and internal/ external stakeholder management in relation to the commercial and business development activities of the Operating Company

  • Responsible for customer relationships and internal/ external stakeholder management in relation to the commercial and business development activities of the Operating Company

  • Understands the needs, desires and requirements of the customer and translates those into improvement programs and/or additional services

  • Strives for increased customer satisfaction and loyalty

  • Oversees and manages complaint handling and satisfactory dispute resolution

  • Drives the Customer Satisfaction Survey process, including adequate representation of customers and follow-up

  • Champions continuous service improvement

  • Responsible for correct, complete and timely commercial intelligence

  • Understands and develops market intelligence related to local product markets, customers and competitors and coordinates internal and external resources

  • Delivers revenue, financial and investment forecasting, reports and contributes to periodical budget cycles; monitors and adjusts commercial performance

  • Prepares and communicates relevant commercial and service developments to regional and global senior management

  • Ensures the Vopak CRM system is up-to-date at all times with regard to customer, market, competition, commercial development, etc. information in assigned areas

  • Ensures all proposals and final contracts are in compliance with relevant regulations and company standards; manages contracts throughout their life-cycle

  • Responsible for providing exemplary commercial leadership

  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position

  • Manages, develops and motivates the Sales Department

  • Leads and champions the company's sales methodology

  • Functions as a member of the local Management Team and contributes to the general objectives of the assigned location

  • Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position

  • Champions the company's sales methodology

  • Implements and ensures compliance with relevant Division and Corporate initiatives and programs

  • Contributes to internal and external audits and ensures compliance with relevant quality requirements

  • Aligns with the Customer Service, Finance and Operations departments

  • Responsible for managing people

  • Manages, motivates and develops staff in the Sales Department of the Operating Company

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA a plus

  • Thorough understanding of financial concepts

  • Minimum of 7 years commercial and business development experience in the petroleum, petrochemical sector or associated industries

  • Experience in leading and managing team of sales professionals ∙ Current knowledge of local market and regulatory conditions in the petroleum and/or petrochemical sector

  • Experience working with (international) customers in business-to-business environment

  • Ability to influence and negotiate; prioritize, meet deadlines; multi task

  • Business development and project management experience
